The forest beauty can decorate the living room, but in all other rooms the festive mood can be felt will not be.

If you want to recreate the New Year's atmosphere in every corner of your home, then don't be lazy and decorate everything around with New Year's attributes. Volumetric paper snowflakes are best suited for this. And although this decor seems very simple at first glance, it can turn your home into a fabulous snowy kingdom.

Therefore, find some free time in your busy work schedule, stock up on white paper and scissors and start creating a New Year's fairy tale for yourself and your family.

How to make a three-dimensional 3D snowflake for the New Year from paper?

Volumetric snowflake 3D

If you want to truly surprise your household, then decorate your house with voluminous 3D snowflakes. Depending on the size, such a craft can be placed on a Christmas tree, window, wall or even on furniture. A garland made from such hand-made decor will look very beautiful.

Try to make snowflakes of different sizes and fasten them on a thread so that they are all at different levels. If you are not lazy and make several of these garlands, you can make an imitation of snowfall in some room.

Materials for making three-dimensional 3D snowflakes:

  1. White paper (you can use any other color if you wish)
  2. Stationery stapler
  3. Paper scissors
  4. Ruler and pencil
  5. Any glue
Figure No. 1
  • First of all, start making a stencil, with the help of which you can later make individual blanks for the future decoration. To do this, take a thick sheet of paper (you can even use cardboard) and draw six straight lines on it at right angles. Make sure that they are placed on the sheet parallel to each other and do not intersect anywhere. Draw them at a distance of 1 centimeter from each other.
Figure No. 2
  • After this, take six sheets of the same size (square), fold each of them separately diagonally and, using a pre-made stencil, cut three slits on them. If you did everything correctly, then you should have six isosceles triangles with parallel cuts on your table.
Figure No. 3
  • Take one of the blanks and carefully unfold it. On the table in front of you there should be a square consisting of several smaller squares. The corners of the smallest square (it is located in the very center of the workpiece) must be carefully tucked towards the center and fastened with glue.
Figure No. 4
  • After this, the sheet must be turned over to the next side and the free corners of the next square secured in the same way. You need to continue these actions until you get something like a multi-layered icicle. Thus, you need to glue all the remaining five parts.
Figure No. 5
  • Next, we take the finished icicles and carefully fasten them together using a stapler. We do this in two stages. First, we fasten three icicles into one. Then, using the same stapler, we fix the two formed halves together. Do everything as carefully as possible, but do not spare the brackets; if you do not fasten them well, the finished product will simply fall apart.

Do-it-yourself volumetric paper snowflakes: step-by-step instructions

Step-by-step instruction

Volumetric snowflakes always look very beautiful, but unfortunately, making them takes a lot of time. In view of this, if you want to decorate your home for the New Year with just such a festive atmosphere, then try to make a simpler version of volumetric decoration. It will have a slightly different format, but most importantly, you will spend a minimum of your time on its production.

Materials:

  1. Sheets of paper
  2. Thread and needle
  3. Compass
  4. Pencil and ruler
  5. Red or yellow fabric

Manufacturing rules:

  • Take a sheet of paper and draw four circles of equal diameter on it. To make small snowflakes, a diameter of 5 centimeters will be enough, and to create larger products this figure can even increase to 10 centimeters.
  • Carefully cut out the drawn circles with scissors, and then using a ruler and pencil, divide each circle individually into eight equal parts. Along these lines, the workpiece will need to be cut with scissors from the edge to the center.
  • Then the ends of the resulting petals must be carefully bent towards the center and fixed together with glue. If you cannot give the petal the correct shape, try helping yourself with a simple pencil.
  • In this way, make three more of these paper flowers, and then start fixing all the blanks together. This can be done with glue or take a thread and a needle and simply sew all parts of the snowflake.
  • In order for such a snowflake to look complete, be sure to cut out a small circle from the fabric and attach it in the very center of the product. If you wish, you can decorate it a little with sparkles and small sequins.

Types of volumetric snowflakes - origami: photo

Volumetric snowflake

Two-color origami
  • Many of us associate origami with something very complex and incomprehensible. But in reality, this technique simply requires a little more concentration than any other man-made process. Therefore, if you show just a little patience, you will probably be able to make voluminous snowflakes this way. But even in this case, there are several methods for creating New Year's decorations.
Snowflake origami
  • The first type includes ordinary origami, which involves folding paper sheets in a certain order, which subsequently produces a three-dimensional product with a 3D effect. In this case, you do not have to glue or fix anything. All that will be required of you to create a decoration is simply to fold the sheet correctly.
Snowflake karigami

The second and more complex type of this technique is the so-called karigami. In this case, the process involves both the correct folding of the sheet and the most accurate cutting of the pattern. If you are making such an origami snowflake for the first time, then it will be better if you first draw the future pattern and only then start cutting it out.

This can be done with either standard scissors or manicure scissors. The latter option is preferable for beginners as it will provide the opportunity to correctly cut through the most intricate pattern. After cutting, all you have to do is bend some parts and the voluminous karigami snowflake will be ready.

Modular snowflake

Elements of a modular snowflake
  • The last method of creating snowflakes is the most difficult, but the finished decorations turn out truly fabulous. This type is also called modular origami. In this case, you will first have to make quite a lot of different small parts, and then connect them in the correct order. The disadvantage of this origami method is that if during the joining process you make the most minimal mistake, it will greatly spoil the visual perception of the decoration.

Volumetric snowflakes made from strips of paper: diagrams

Volumetric snowflake in the shape of a star

If you want to get the most voluminous snowflake, then make it from paper strips. In this case, you will be able to independently regulate how much this or that part of the product will protrude, but most importantly, you will not have to watch how you bend or draw lines all the time.

To create this decoration you will need scissors, glue and thin strips of paper of any color. If you want to make the most airy snowflake, then use strips 3 to 5 millimeters wide to make it. If you plan to decorate your house with large voluminous snowflakes, then cut strips with a width of 8 millimeters.

Scheme No. 1

Volumetric snowflakes made of stripes:

  • So, first of all, take a sheet of paper and cut five strips of the same width from it. The length of these blanks will be different. In order to make one part of a snowflake you will need 1 strip 25 cm long, 2 21 cm long and two 19 cm long.
  • At the next stage, coat the ends of the blanks with glue and carefully fasten them together. Let the petals dry a little, and then begin to form a voluminous leaf out of them. Be sure to check whether all the parts are well secured to each other and, if necessary, then additionally secure them with thread or an ordinary clothespin.
  • In this way we make at least eight more pieces of paper. If you want the finished product to be more voluminous, then make 10 or 12 leaves. Let the blanks dry thoroughly and begin assembling the product.
  • Cut a strip of thick paper 1 cm wide and glue it into a circle. All previously made blanks must be carefully attached to this circle. If you see that the structure is not very strong, then try first gluing the leaves themselves together and only then fix them on the core.

The next method of creating a three-dimensional snowflake is considered quite complicated, but still, if you decide to make a decoration using this method, you will be satisfied with the result (diagram No. 2). To create a medium-sized decoration you will need 6 strips 25 cm long, glue and paper clips.

Scheme No. 2

So:

  • At the first stage, we begin to weave the strips together so that a square is formed in the center. We fix each strip with glue or a paper clip.
  • At the second stage, we begin to connect strips that are close to each other. To do this, first lubricate their ends with glue and then carefully fasten them together. After these steps you should end up with something resembling a leaf.
  • We form the three remaining parts of the workpiece in this way and move on to creating another such part of the snowflake. After it is ready, all you have to do is put them together so that your product visually resembles a flower. After the glue has dried, the paper clips can be removed and the snowflake can be hung on a Christmas tree or attached to a window.

Beautiful three-dimensional snowflakes - balls: diagrams, photos

Photo No. 1

Photo No. 2

Below we will tell you how to make a New Year's snowflake ball from colored paper. If you want it to look more like the snowflake we are used to, then before you start gluing all the parts of the product together, cut an interesting pattern on them. This will help make the decoration lighter, airier and more festive.

Figure No. 1
  • Take paper of any color and draw 12 circles on it. In order for your New Year's decoration to turn out perfect, they all must have the same diameter.
Figure No. 2
  • Fold all the pieces in half and place them in one neat pile. If you use multi-colored paper to create a snowflake ball, do not forget that the colors must be alternated.
  • Place this workpiece under anything heavy for a while and leave it there for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the bend line of the circles will become very noticeable, and you will be able to correctly fix them together.
Figure No. 3
  • To do this, carefully straighten the workpiece, and then use a stapler to connect all twelve parts together. Make sure that the staples are located exactly on the fold line.
Figure No. 4
  • Once you're done with this process, you can move on to creating the form. Straighten the circles and start gluing them together with glue. They must be connected in such a way that each separate half of the circle is attached to the adjacent part of the product on one side and at the bottom on the opposite side.

Large volumetric paper snowflakes: templates

Template #1

Template No. 2

Today we have already introduced you to the most common ways to create voluminous New Year's snowflakes. And as you probably already understood, if desired, even a child can make this beautiful New Year’s decoration out of ordinary paper.

But finally, we decided to introduce you to another method of creating holiday decor. Below we will tell you how to easily and quickly make a large voluminous snowflake.

Scheme for manufacturing

Snowflake accordion:

  • To begin, take paper and cut strips of the same width from it. Their width can vary from 7 to 15 centimeters.
  • Fold the blanks in half, and then draw the outline of the future ornament on them. Take scissors (you can use nail scissors) and carefully cut through the design.
  • If you chose not very thick paper to make a snowflake, then you can fold two parts at once and cut them together.
  • Then fold each part separately like an accordion. Make sure that all workpiece segments are the same size. If at least one of them is larger or smaller than necessary, then you simply will not be able to glue the two parts together.
  • When the accordions are ready, coat their edges with glue, fasten them and wait until they dry completely. After this, take the snowflake and straighten it with smooth movements.

If you want your New Year's decoration to be more colorful, then use paper of different colors to make it. For example, combine white with blue, pink, peach or mint. Also, if you wish, you can glue several small beads or bright pieces of glass onto the snowflake.

Video: Do-it-yourself volumetric snowflake

Decorating your home for the holidays is not an easy task, but nothing is easier if you figure out how to make a paper snowflake - this decor looks attractive and has been relevant for many years. Moreover, you can make not just ordinary flat decorations, but also voluminous ones. By the way, they can be used in interior decoration, a festive table, or even decorate a Christmas tree with them.

Classic paper version

Traditional garlands from paper leaves have been cut out for several generations and are the most popular type of decoration. It's best to get the whole family together and do this activity - this way you can have a good time and make snowflakes with your own hands - with different designs.

Traditional decorations are made by folding a sheet of paper six times - you can see patterns of snowflakes. However, if you want to get a more sophisticated decor, you should not stop at the classic options; you can quite easily fold the sheet any number of times - this way the snowflakes for the New Year will turn out to be varied.

What you need to make paper snowflakes yourself:

  • paper - simple office white paper is suitable, as well as an album for children's creativity. You shouldn’t take particularly dense varieties like watercolor - such a blank will not be very easy to bend and cut.
  • breadboard knife and stationery scissors - directly for cutting. If you plan to make paper snowflakes with your children, make sure they have scissors with rounded ends.
  • pencil and eraser - for applying markings and patterns to the workpiece.

Several ways to create

How to make a beautiful snowflake out of paper if you have never done it before? You can go through trial and error if you have enough time and enthusiasm. Fold the sheet in any way convenient for you, and then pick up scissors or a stationery knife.

This video shows 3 ways to fold paper to cut out snowflakes:

draw the pattern and cut it out correctly:

If you don't mind bends, you can use nail scissors. First of all, you need to give your future snowflake a beautiful edge - you can simply cut it with a smooth line, cut out ice crystals or even a few cloves. It all depends on your imagination.

Then you need to cut through the main decorative elements - they can be abstract or quite logical - for example, a pattern with herringbones looks beautiful. After you cut out the main elements, add small ones - it is more convenient to do them with a stationery knife (for this you can place the workpiece on a special mat for cutting paper or on a pile of old newspapers or magazines - this will help protect the table).

Then the workpiece needs to be smoothed. A few attempts will help you get your bearings and decide on a design.

If you don’t understand how to fold paper, then you can use the simplest method - fold the paper sheet in half, then one more time - a rhombus will come out. Fold it again to form a triangle - the corner where the most folds will be the central part, and the free sides will be the edge. You can look at addition schemes to obtain elements with any number of rays.

A colored paper snowflake looks impressive - especially if it double-sided colored paper with glitter effect. By the way, the finished snowflake can be decorated with decorative glue and glitter.

Try folding paper for a snowflake according to one of the patterns and cutting out something at your discretion, and if you don’t like the result, you can always print out a beautiful pattern and make snowflakes with your own hands from paper or a blank.

More volume

If you want to understand how to make a three-dimensional snowflake out of paper, then first you need to define the terms. Three-dimensional can be either an ordinary shape, which is folded after cutting and fixed in such a way that it turns out to be corrugated, or a structure that is made from several elements.

The most impressive look is the beautiful huge snowflakes (larger in size than an A4 sheet), which are assembled from several fragments. Making a large snowflake without an assembly diagram is very difficult; you need to have good spatial thinking. To understand how to make each element and understand how a three-dimensional structure is obtained from it, it is better to watch a short and understandable master class.

The best DIY voluminous snowflakes made from foil and paper come when you follow inspiration and at the same time look at the working assembly diagram.

Do you want to figure out how to cut snowflakes out of paper with an unusual design in the form of Einstein's head or with symbols from Game of Thrones? You will need snowflake templates to cut out - follow the instructions and you will get exactly the same result as in the image.

If you are confident in your own abilities, then you can try to draw your own stencils for cutting - first we fold the sheet the required number of times, then on one side we make a drawing of what should end up and cut it out.

These decorative elements can be used to decorate an apartment or a New Year tree, and they can also be used at a party - of course, if it is in the spirit of a popular fandom. However, you can go the other way and not print out the finished design, but study a step-by-step master class and figure out how a folded triangle of paper turns into familiar symbols and faces.

Try cutting snowflakes out of paper using cutting templates.

Unusual voluminous paper snowflakes can be made in another way - for example, using the quilling technique. You will need strips from which you will twist spirals and glue them together.

Use a ready-made idea with a photo or video, or come up with something of your own. To make voluminous beautiful snowflakes from colored paper with your own hands, watch the step-by-step lessons and you will learn how to make unusual snowflakes from paper and colored foil by looking at the cutting diagrams.

However, if you like to cut and have a good knife for cutting out paper, then you can make fan snowflakes with your own hands. This is a complex structure with an interesting design, which is assembled from several layers - like a children's pyramid. Each layer consists of sheets of paper folded like a fan, on which fancy patterns are cut out.

Here's a large, voluminous snowflake you can make from two sheets of paper folded like a fan:

The paper fan made in this way is glued with three or four similar fans - this will be the largest circle. By the way, you can make it quite dense, without a large number of openwork elements, or take sheets of blue or cyan color for production - subsequent layers will show through and the product will actually glow with blue light.

The next paper circle is also made from fans, but smaller in size; you can change the depth of the fold and choose an interesting pattern. This is how several layers are made step by step - you shouldn’t do too much, 3-6 layers will be enough.

To make unique volumetric ones with your own hands, try using the quilling or origami technique in combination with the fan technique.

To assemble a snow globe, you will need a drawing - you can print it out or come up with it yourself based on the master class. All that is required for this product is to figure out how many elements you will assemble your ball from, and how you will fasten the elements together (the easiest way is to glue them), and then prepare a template for one such element.

Now you know how to cut out New Year's snowflakes and maybe even in the hottest summer you can bring a little winter decoration and comfort to your home.

As decoration, you can use large volumetric snowflakes from scrap materials. They are hung from the chandelier, on the curtains. Place it on shelves or use it entirely as a decoration on the Christmas tree. I consider paper to be the most affordable manufacturing material, so we will use it.

Involve the children, let them develop their accuracy and fine motor skills, so that the process takes place in an unforgettable mood of expectation of a miracle. Or while you are creating a decorative element, let the child and other family members cut out openwork snowflakes according to the given templates from the previous article.

Do-it-yourself volumetric paper snowflakes

Nowadays, three-dimensional versions of snowflakes, or they are also called 3D, are very popular. Of course, you need more paper, but the effect is amazing.
With the help of such a decorative element, you can create an unusual photo zone in the apartment where guests will take pictures.

This snowflake can be taken to a kindergarten or school. Also hang and decorate an outdoor Christmas tree.

So, the simplest and most popular options for snowflakes.

In the first version, we used the same technology as in this article when we made an autumn leaf.

For a snowflake, take 6 square sheets, you can use multi-colored stickers.

The idea is that the piece of paper is folded diagonally and 3 slits are made on the fold side.

And the two shortest tips are connected, then the workpiece is turned out with the wrong side. The ends of the two middle strips are glued together.

Then the workpiece is unfolded again and the process continues until all the ends are glued together.

You will get 6 blanks.

And we glue these blanks with their bases to each other.

The next snowflake is even easier to make. It turns out very fluffy and many children like it.

For this we use a sheet of double-sided colored paper and cut it to make a square.

We fold it diagonally and then three more times, getting triangles.

You should have three sides, as in the photo, and a common fold line.

Now we wrap the long end inward and cut off the resulting triangle.

All that remains is to make even, long cuts.

Now carefully unfold the workpiece so that the paper fringe does not tear.

To get volume, we make two more similar blanks of a smaller size and connect them in the center.

Snowflake from newspapers

You can make it from newspapers, or you can make it from plain paper.

To glue one snowflake we need from five to 7 blanks.

We prepare the strips: long – 9 cm, medium – 8 cm, short – 7 cm.

Now we glue the ends of each strip.

We form the blank.

And we combine them into one product.

Newspaper is thinner than paper, so it's best to double each strip to add thickness.

We use toilet paper rolls

Toilet paper rolls are a great item for creativity.

For one snowflake we take one bushing and cut it into pieces of the same size.

And glue them together with hot glue in any order we like. To get a double leaf, you need to fold the ring in half.

If you are going to paint a snowflake, then the sleeve should not dissolve in water; use regular toilet paper.

Apply PVA glue to the edges of the finished product and sprinkle glitter on it.

Detailed diagrams on how to make voluminous paper snowflakes

I also found a detailed explanation of how to make three wonderful snowflakes. By the way, if you use self-sufficient tones like red, black or purple, it will turn out quite stylish and unusual.

Blue snowflake

We need to cut strips of two colors: 5 long, 10 medium and 10 short.

We connect like this: Glue the ends of the long strip, then glue the middle strips to its ends on the sides.

Then there is a turn of short strips, you get a blank.

Use a stapler or hot glue to connect the pieces in the middle.

How do you like the result?

Curly snowflake

You need five square sheets of paper of the same size.

We fold each square halfway and make slits of the same size to the center.

We unfold it and start making a ray. Glue each end of the strip to its beginning at the center, you get something like a droplet.

Let's collect all the pieces into one whole and rejoice at the result.

Black snowflake

A very impressive, but quite complex applique. There are two options for gluing it.

We take the strips of the same width and very even. We fold three strips perpendicular to each other and secure the center with paper clips.
Let's connect the two outer strips to form a petal, and do the same with the rest.

You can do this. But there is another gluing option.
Then we glue the side strips of one side together under the middle strip.

But then, in order to get more rays, you will need to make a second layer on top, but place it diagonally.

To decorate snowflakes, you can use braid, ribbons, beads, LEDs and other elegant elements.

Have a nice snowy day, friends. Why snowy? Today your warm, windless houses will be filled with mesmerizing snowflakes. Precipitation indoors is unlikely, I will just reveal the secrets of creating different “ice” crystals. The methods are suitable even for those who were unable to tame the scissors during school labor lessons. Follow the tips, then angular, sloppy paper snowflakes with your own hands will become sophisticated ornate works of art.

For a graceful carved craft, you will need 3 simple ingredients: sheets, sharp scissors, and imagination. The rules here are followed only when preparing the base, and the pattern can be absolutely anything: Christmas trees, stars, monograms, hearts, diamonds, tangled lines.

I’ll tell you how to cut snowflakes out of paper with your own hands step by step:

To a beginner, the scheme will seem complex and confusing. But the principle of operation will definitely become clear during the process, you just need to take a sheet and make 1-2 correct blanks. A little practice is the best way to figure out how to cut snowflakes out of paper with your own hands step by step.

The folded “semi-finished product” needs to be filled with a pattern. It can be drawn in advance with a pencil or improvised - each craft will be unique. The cuts at the base correspond to the edges of the finished product, at the top of the triangle - to the middle, on the sides - to the “body”.

Please note: the sheet is folded several times, all the notches made will be mirrored and duplicated in each segment of the circle.

Simple patterns of beautiful paper snowflakes

Is your imagination letting you down? Does creativity cause mistrust? Use existing cutting patterns to create your craft. Snowflakes are created using lines kindly drawn by other people. The drawings are printed out in their entirety or redrawn onto a folded triangle and unnecessary segments are cut off.

There are a great variety of scheme options. The surface of the improvised “ice” is filled with abstract patterns, colors, figures of people, animals, cartoons, and fairy-tale characters. Here are the easiest guides.

"Herringbone"

From the top to the middle of the base, draw a straight line 0.2-0.5 cm wide, focusing on the size of the sheet. On both sides, draw several equally spaced segments at an angle of 30° to the “equator”. The resulting series of strips must be cut one after another. Leave the vertical line intact, otherwise the product will fall apart in two.

"Angels"

A more complex option, but the presence of the necessary diagram is the question “How to cut snowflakes from paper with your own hands step by step?” instantly removes. Draw the outlines of 1-3 angels, if desired, complement the pattern with lines. Cut off unnecessary material. When you go around the contour of the figure, leave thin paper “bridges” - the character should stay on the body of the craft.

"Monograms"

Monogram “ice” turns out amazing with a minimum of effort. The pattern is repeated throughout the product, it seems too intricate and difficult for a person to execute. Take the diagram, fill the blank with any monograms you like or many intertwined lines. All that remains is to get rid of the excess material and unfold the sheet.

See what other results you can achieve with. The process of creating products follows simple principles - we translate the drawing, use scissors. The result looks like a real frosty miracle.

Cutting out beautiful paper snowflakes according to patterns: 3 tips

It didn’t take me long to make beautiful paper snowflakes; first I had to ruin several dozen sheets and sacrifice my pride. Through countless trials and errors, a list of rules for creating crafts appeared. I use it when I plan to surprise others with my ability to control scissors, and I advise you to follow the points.

  1. Choose the right material. For crafts that are attached to windows and walls, it is better to take thin sheets. You can stick to notebooks, tracing paper, and napkins. Office paper, craft paper, and whatman paper are suitable for hanging products. The materials are denser and hold their shape well. It’s just more difficult to cut them; you’ll need a strong, sharp tool.
  2. Spend more time on the product. The drawing doesn't have to be complicated. The main thing here is a lot of matching lines and notches. The more, the more complex the pattern seems, even if you cut a dozen identical strips, like a “Herringbone”.
  3. Find thin blade scissors. The elegant tip of the tool will allow you to remove small dots and stripes - the craft will only benefit. Some people consider nail scissors ideal, but they won’t take thick Whatman paper. Look for tools to suit your needs.

Volumetric paper snowflakes

Volumetric crafts are less refined than their carved counterparts, but they look more attractive as space decoration. Don’t understand how to cut snowflakes out of paper with your own hands step by step? Try the options below.

"Fan"

The creation of “Fan” can be entrusted to a child or a person far from creative.

  1. Take several sheets. The more there are, the denser the craft will be.
  2. Place one vertically in front of you.
  3. Draw the sheet with horizontal, equally spaced stripes - optimally every 1-3 cm.
  4. Change the length of the indentation - the final appearance of the product will be different from the previous ones.
  5. Next, fold the base like an accordion: bend the first strip to the left, the second to the right, the third to the left again - and to the end.
  6. Squeeze the accordion and fold it in half vertically. Glue the touching sides together.
  7. Create several parts and connect them together. You will get unusually beautiful snowflakes made of paper - something like a pleated skirt.

"Flower"

The voluminous craft is ready, all that remains is to hang it up. The manipulations in the process of creating “Flower” are simple and clear, the result is incredibly beautiful.

Are you planning to fill your interior with a winter fairy tale? Simple creativity is still worth mastering. For me, creating “crystals” is a great way to relax and get distracted. Successful snowflakes make your imagination work harder, come up with more and more intricate patterns, and make your tools more skillfully bend around thin lines. Try to get your family involved in something, you will be in a New Year's mood and feel comfortable.

See you soon, share your successes and subscribe to blog updates in anticipation of new creative ideas.

Greetings to all! Today is November 12th, and there is still no snow in our city. What's your weather like? We are all already looking forward to winter fun and the snow-white outfit of nature. I really want to go outside and feel how snowflakes slowly and gracefully fall on you.

As a matter of fact, we will talk about them, about these white cut-out beauties! Probably, these fluffies are an indispensable attribute for decorating houses, streets, school and kindergarten premises in the winter. There are different methods for making this craft. The main difference is the material from which it is made and the cutting methods. We will talk about how to make paper snowflakes using different patterns and cutting templates.

Don't forget that such blanks can be used as crafts for the upcoming New Year. You can get ideas for interesting and beautiful things that you can do with your own hands, getting ready for the holidays in advance.

You know, I would like to advise you to introduce such a tradition in your family: get together on cold evenings and create with your children, making and cutting out these simple designs, and then sticking them on the windows. And let passers-by envy your beauty!!

The easiest way to make a snowflake is to fold the sheet 5 times. The first four times we fold it in half, and the fifth time - diagonally. We cut out any patterns from the resulting blank and unfold it. Our New Year's beauty is ready!!

But this is a very simple and not very interesting way. To make it more complicated, you can make a tetrahedral version:

Or pentagonal:

Here is another simple and easy way to cut out our product:

And to make it even clearer to you, let’s now look at the manufacturing process step by step:

  • We will make snowflakes from square paper. If you have a standard A4 sheet, then adjust it to the desired shape. Now fold it to form a triangle. We cut off the excess part and get a perfect square.
  • We fold the square diagonally to form a triangle.

  • Fold the triangle towards the far corners, creating another smaller triangle.
  • We have a blank. Apply any pattern to it and carefully cut it out.
  • All you have to do is straighten the finished product so as not to catch it and tear it.

On a note!! This is the easiest way to make a snowflake. Here the result depends on the selected pattern. The more complex the pattern, the more unusual and interesting the result will be.

Beautiful snowflakes with your own hands (made from paper)

I would also like to note that the more complex the decoration pattern, the more difficult it will be for you to cut it, so count on your strength.

For you, one more photo instruction for making a New Year's craft:

  • Make a diagonal bend. If you do not have a square sheet, then do not forget to cut off the excess part. Next, roll the workpiece diagonally again.
  • We divide the widest part of the triangle, that is, its base into 3 equal segments. We bend one corner so that the edge ends at the level of the mark. It will be below the base, but strictly under the mark. Now fold the second part and trim off the uneven ends.
  • Draw or immediately cut out a snowflake.

I think, in general, you already have an idea of how to carry out these simple designs and there should no longer be any difficulties in their manufacture. Here's another video for you on our topic, and let's move on to more complex options.

To make a three-dimensional design, you need to master the techniques of kirigami and quilling. Let's take a closer look at these two methods.

  • Paper snowflake using kirigami technique

We will need: bright colored paper (the back side should be white or colored); scissors; pencil with ruler.

Manufacturing process:

1. Cut out a square of colored paper of any size.

2. Fold it in quarters to reduce the size of the piece by four.

3. Make a diagonal fold.

4. Cut off the beveled corner at the top.

5. Cut out symmetrical triangles on the outside of the figure.

6. Using scissors from bottom to top, make two cuts on both sides of the sharp corner, as well as another cut on the right or left.

7. Unfold the paper and smooth it out carefully.

8. Now bend the resulting corners up or down at random.

9. Having folded all the corners, iron the craft.

10. When you place the product, turn it as desired with the front or back side facing you.

When you have become familiar with this technique, I offer you templates of more original types:

  • like this one for example

  • Snowflake using quilling technique

This is very painstaking work, but the result is the envy of everyone. Although, if you look at it, everything is done extremely simply.

  • We take a regular sheet of paper and, using a ruler and pencil, draw identical lines. Cut the sheet into strips.
  • Take an awl and attach the edge of a paper strip to its end. Now we wind the strip onto the tool.
  • Glue the end of the strip to the resulting coil and remove the roll from the awl. Make another such coil, but lightly squeeze it with your fingers on one side. Make five more of these teardrop coils.

  • Take the first blank and glue six “droplets” to it.
  • Roll six coils again and squeeze with your fingers on both sides. Glue new parts between the petals of the snowflake.
  • Take three strips and fold them in half, then cut them. You should have six short strips. Twist six coils from them. Glue a new coil onto each tip of the piece.
  • From long strips we make six more coils, only slightly larger in size than the first. To do this, do not tighten the paper too much. Glue them on top between small rolls.
  • You need to make six more large coils and bend their sides with your fingers to make a square. We glue them at the top to the large coils.
  • Take a pencil and wrap a paper strip around it, glue the end of the strip and remove the spool. We glue this part to one of the tops of the snowflake and thread a ribbon or string into the ring.

Here is a diagram of how you can still glue the parts:

  • You can also make such a three-dimensional 3D figure.

We will need: paper, scissors and a stationery knife; scotch; glue; stapler

Cooking process:

1. Make six identical squares out of paper.

2. Bend each square diagonally and make 3 cuts towards the middle on both sides. The cuts should not touch, leave 0.5-1 cm between them.

3. Lay out the sheet and place it so that the uncut edges are vertical. From the inside you need to twist the two closest edges into a tube. Glue with glue or tape.

4. Unfold the workpiece and connect the next two strips. We turn the part over again and connect the 3rd row of strips. Glue the last strips too, turning the workpiece over to the other side.

5. We do the same with six squares. Then fasten them in three elements, turned in one direction. Then we fix both parts into a three-dimensional figure.

6. If necessary, secure the sides of the product with a stapler or glue.

And another master class on making winter beauties:

How to make a snowflake from a roll of toilet paper?

It turns out that to make such crafts, you don’t have to use regular paper; you can also use toilet paper rolls. And the work process is very simple, you only need to take one roll, PVA glue and paints, you can use acrylic, or you can use gouache. For decoration, use glitter, sequins or confetti.

Now just cut the toilet paper roll into equal parts, shape it into a flattened shape and glue it together. Top with material of your choice.

Here are a couple more ideas for designing structures made from rolls:

  • use small and large pieces

  • You can take different decoration elements from above

  • Or you can just cover it with gold paint
