DIY men's tool bag. Sewing master class: Tool bag. What kind of bags can there be?

For those who need to have several tools on hand at the same time for home repairs or other work, a tool belt bag is perfect. Convenient and practical, and most importantly, you don’t need to look for anything and bend over or go down the stairs every time. It probably happens to everyone that they put something on a shelf, and then you can’t find it in that place. That is why we invite you to familiarize yourself with how you can do a similar thing at home.

What it is?

A tool bag (it’s easy to make with your own hands) involves sewing an organizer with cells of different sizes. They can accommodate various devices that are often needed for minor repairs. This device will help save time searching for the necessary screwdriver or hammer. The maximum number of pockets is 10; more is not recommended. Putting too much stress on your back can affect your health, particularly leading to back problems. Of course, you can find a bag or belt for tools in a store, but the price will not always please you, not to mention the quality. In addition, their functionality may not meet your needs. Therefore, let's save, especially since the costs are low, but the benefits are many. Located at the waist - convenient and practical, no need to take time off from work.

Such devices can have several varieties:

  • belt;
  • vest;
  • bag;
  • apron.

Where can I find the pattern?

To sew a tool belt with your own hands, you need to have a pattern. Print the finished one or make it yourself from a photo. The main goal is functionality. If you decide to do it yourself, then it’s worth determining the main points:

  • overall size of the belt or bag;
  • number of pockets;
  • the size and purpose of the compartments - for a certain tool it is important to make the correct calculation so that it does not fall out.

Materials

An equally important issue when sewing a tool belt with your own hands is the selection of material. After all, it must be strong and reliable, otherwise it may break at the most inopportune moment. It is best to use thick fabric - denim, nylon, leather, they have optimal properties for such a product. It is also worth paying attention to such a parameter as water resistance, so that everything that is there remains dry in any weather. In addition, this is not the only thing that is needed for further work. You will need:

  • scissors;
  • pattern;
  • ruler or centimeter;
  • sewing marker, soap or chalk;
  • sewing machine;
  • threads;
  • accessories - carabiners, latches, Velcro, rivets;
  • Decoration Materials.

After preparing all the necessary materials and equipment, you can proceed to the next stage.

Sewing

It is necessary to cut a tool belt with your own hands in accordance with the pattern. All parts need to be laid out on the wrong side of the selected material and outlined with chalk, soap or a sewing marker. Don't forget to add seam allowances - this will ensure the garment is the correct size; if you don't do this, the pockets and all parts of the waistband will be smaller. On the finished pattern, allowances may already have been added - pay attention to this. Such a nuance may affect its functionality and practicality.

We start with the belt itself, on which the compartments will be located. The wider the width of the product, the better; you should also take care of rigidity; the length is selected depending on the waist size. To make adjustments, you need to use special fittings - latches or carabiners. Velcro would also look good; if necessary, it can be easily replaced with a new one. All options can be found in stores with sewing supplies and consult with the seller, he will definitely tell you a good option from all those available.

Now let's start decorating the pockets properly:

  • hem one free edge with finishing stitch;
  • processing with finishing materials.

This processing option will prevent the edges of the fabric from going in different directions. And this can lead to the loss of the tool, which will be extremely unpleasant. To strengthen the pockets, you should use rivets.

When you have finished preparing all the compartments, you need to place them on the belt as the final result will look like. To try it on, pin all the parts with pins, if everything is satisfactory, then you can start sewing on the machine.

What to pay attention to

Before you start sewing your own tool belt, there are a few things to consider. They may turn out to be very important for you, so we suggest that you familiarize yourself with them in more detail:

  1. Make pockets on the side of the belt where your working hand is - this option will make it much more convenient to take the tool. For clarity, make a sketch, you can even make more than one.
  2. If in your work you often use not only small tools, but also something larger, then you should take care of mounts for them.
  3. Think carefully about which pocket this or that will go in, but don't forget to distribute the weight evenly.
  4. Unloading belts will help you reduce the load on your back from the weight of the tools.

Following simple recommendations will help you work comfortably anywhere. If you are buying a ready-made belt, bag or vest for accessories, then pay attention to how securely all the compartments are secured and the quality of the latches so that everything stays in place.

Second life for old things

You can easily make a tool belt out of old jeans. To do this, you need to use pants that have been lying around for a long time. The main part will be the upper part of the trousers, since there are already ready-made pockets there. If this is not enough for you, then you can increase their number, just do not forget about the limit - 10 pieces. It is also worth taking care of the clasp - it should be reliable, but at the same time easy to unfasten, so as not to put a lot of effort, check whether it will open on its own. The greater the weight of the vest or bag, the more secure the latch.

Original ideas

You can sew a tool belt with or without a pattern. Ideas for this should be taken from the Internet or you can come up with something new yourself. For example, take an old belt, attach thick fabric to it and sew on pockets from a briefcase or pants that have been lying around for a long time. This option is interesting and does not require a lot of time and money. Everyone has things in their closet that are unsuitable for wearing. This way you can give them a second life and get rid of unnecessary things.

A good option for a tool belt (everyone can make one with their own hands) of a small size would be an old and small men's bag. The handle needs to be cut in the middle and carabiners or latches attached. This option will require practically no effort from you, because all the compartments are already ready and you don’t need to look for a pattern, you don’t need to sew anything.

As you can see, there are many options, the main thing is to choose the most optimal one for yourself.

Lately, at work, I constantly have to carry tools with me. To carry them, I used an ordinary thick backpack. Everything would be fine, but the constant chaos and mishmash of tools depressed me every day. It was decided to make a comfortable bag for daily wear.

I’ll say right away that this is the second such product. The first one I sewed during lunch at work using a sharpened screw and a broken needle, so it turned out a little clumsy, but very functional. And inspired by the experience, I set about the second.

So, to make the pocket bag I used:

  • a pant leg from old jeans;
  • a broken helmet found at a construction site;
  • threads;
  • awl;

First, cut off the required length of the trouser leg. Then, turning it inside out, sew the bottom.

We remove the suspension elements from the helmet. We sew the brackets with a loop for attaching to a belt.

Having cut off a straight section with fastening points, we evenly punch it with an awl.

Then we sew it to our pocket.

Having figured out that it would be nice to prepare places for carrying over the shoulder, we sew on a couple more mounting brackets.

We fill the stencil. All! Our brain pocket ready to carry the instrument.

In my case, on my belt I wear a brain pocket (a Velcro valve is added to the design) with a layout for screwdrivers, pliers, a voltage indicator and a knife, and over my shoulder I wear a brain bag with keys and pliers. The brain bag is also convenient to use as a holster for a hair dryer, drill and other power tools.

In total, in an hour, without spending a penny, we have a very convenient device for carrying tools and other useful items.

When renovating an apartment, it is important that all tools are at hand. When building a house or cottage, a similar item is also needed. The bag allows you to properly organize your workspace and save your time, because there will be no need to look for this or that tool. Even when climbing onto the roof to install a tool bag, you will simply need it. It allows you to free your hands and helps you not to be distracted from work all the time.

Such accessories are very popular both here in Russia and abroad. They are made from various materials, nylon or leather. The advantages of leather include its strength and the fact that it is able to maintain its shape. But at the same time, it has a number of disadvantages: it is heavy in weight, expensive, and offers a small selection of colors. In addition, if the tool bag gets dirty during work, it will be difficult to remove stains from it.

In addition to natural leather, bags are also produced from artificial leather, as well as from pressed leather that has undergone high-quality processing. It is popular due to its high strength, ability to withstand low temperatures, and wear resistance. Products from are inexpensive in price. Cases for storing tools are made from this material.

Nylon is a material of synthetic origin. It is durable and dense. Nylon bags are lighter than leather bags and are easy to remove any dirt from. The color variety of such items can satisfy any buyer.

They can be worn over the shoulder or on a belt. It depends on what tools it is intended for. The buyer can choose tool bags based on his taste. For example, an option with a wide belt that can be worn on the shoulder. This thing is very practical and affordable. These bags are very popular. However, they quickly lose their shape, and the tools stored in them end up in one pile.

More convenient is a tool bag made of nylon, inside of which there are special compartments, they have sealed walls. Bags with hard inserts are more expensive, but they are worth it. Their compartments and nests are designed for convenient storage of heavy items, which allows you to make a choice in their favor. Among the models of similar bags, one can highlight the manufacturer MATRIX. They are waterproof, wear-resistant, and suitable for use in field conditions.

The belt bag resembles a bandolier. It is attached to the belt. It can be called a tablet with a large set of slots and pockets designed to store tools. It is distinguished not only by its practicality of operation, but also by its ease.

When choosing which tool bag will be most convenient for you, you should proceed from the work that needs to be done. For installing drywall, a holster specifically designed for a drill is suitable, as well as two pouches for storing self-tapping screws. If you have roofing work to do, then choose It should have pockets for nails and holes for a hammer. For household repairs, a tool bag called This model is designed to be worn on the belt; it is sewn to the belt. The bag has several pockets that vary in size, as well as many slots for tools.

You may ask, why not buy online? “Very expensive and long,” I answer. Also, another reason is that you won’t try it by touch, you won’t experience the strength of the material. Therefore, there was no talk of buying a new one, since they are all expensive and many of them do not correspond to the quality and strength of the material as they say on the website. You will ask again, why not try the product and if you don’t like it, send it back? The answer is the same, it's time and money. Yes, of course you can go and buy it at the store. There are slightly fewer of them than the population in the area. That works out to 3-4 people per store. But one thing is, when you need something, you won’t find anything in them during the day, but they are full of all sorts of nonsense.

So why did I need it? Read on.

In addition to the robot, I had a small shop and I worked there with many tools, mainly spanners, a hammer, pliers and a robot machine with a bandage tape. All work was carried out from the assembly manholes. The first day I only used my working two-sling belt, but it turned out to be not very suitable for such work. All the small hooks immediately broke off and I had to carry everything in my pockets, otherwise. The next day the bag came out of the gas mask, and that was also not the case. The bag is good, but again not for keys, until you find what you need, which is time, and time, as everyone knows, is money. That's exactly why I decided to make this accessory myself from what I had, as they say, for myself. Worn as an additional one if robots are carried out at heights. If on the ground, then no problem at all.

How to make a tool belt with your own hands?

  • The next step was to make pockets for a hammer and pliers from the straps of an old backpack that I had been carrying for more than seven years; I got a good one, which is a rarity these days.

  • In the remaining space I attached two pockets for small parts, staples and clips, punctures, etc., which I made from my wife’s old handbag.

Agree, it turned out well, you can even compete with some companies.

Best regards, Oleg Lemishko.

A tool belt is an irreplaceable thing for any builder; a necessary tool and components should always be at hand during both routine repairs and professional builders. There are several types of tool belts, they differ from each other, let's try to understand their varieties, help you make a choice and how to make a tool belt yourself.

But you can find a photo of the tool belt for a visual representation in our gallery.

Construction tool belt

The requirements for a construction belt are high; it must be carefully thought out when creating it to prevent the builder from falling from a height in the event of a force majeure situation and allow him to take with him the necessary tool for work.

Oddly enough, there are strict regulations for sewing a construction belt, since this item is often subjected to heavy loads during work. It is imperative that only high-quality and durable elements are used to sew a belt, so there is no need to worry that the fastening is made of light alloy and will not be able to hold the load.

A construction belt without straps, on which a button is attached, prevents you from unfastening the belt while working. A construction belt with shoulder straps is additionally attached to the chest and back, does not limit movement during work and allows you to use a larger number of tools.

The mounting options for construction belts are different: on the side or on the back; choose a belt directly related to the type of work being performed, but the optimal one would be a belt with two fastenings.

The capacity of the tools will depend on the number and size of pockets on the belt; many different-sized pockets mean more capacity for the tools. For example, a dewalt tool belt will be a great help.

Features of the mounting belt

A tool mounting belt can not only help with work, but also comply with basic safety rules when working, this is especially necessary when working at height.

Before choosing such a belt, you need to know exactly the specifics of the work and consult with an experienced consultant who will help you choose a high-quality belt with reliable fastenings and their convenient placement, depending on the specifics of the work.

Particular attention should be paid to the marking of the product; it usually indicates the rating of the rafters and the material from which they are made (“A” – synthetic tape, “B” – steel rope, “C” – polyamide rope, “D” – steel chain ).

All fastenings, tapes and carabiners on the belt must be undamaged, free of rust and not jammed, so it is necessary to carefully check the product before purchasing.

Caring for the mounting belt is not difficult, it is enough to use ordinary soap and water, it is important to remember that chemicals and drying on batteries will quickly cause it to wear out. Periodically inspect the belt for damage or jamming. It is enough to check once every 2 months.

How to make a tool belt

Instead of buying in stores, you can make a tool belt with your own hands. You don't need any great sewing skills here and almost any materials will do (old jeans, belts, canvas and much more). Such belts will be good for use at home, in the country, in the garage.

The easiest way is to use a tool belt made from old jeans.

You will need jeans, a sewing machine, and scissors. We cut off the belt from the jeans; it will perform its function; using the existing fastener, the belt will be fixed at the waist.

We cut off a small piece of fabric from one trouser leg, fold it in half, forming a pocket, leaving 2 centimeters on top to connect the future pocket with the belt, sew the pocket on the sides and lay a couple of vertical seams, dividing it into two more pockets into which you can put small-sized tools.

A simple tool belt is ready; you can add different pockets to such a belt to suit your taste.

Well, which belt is better, the choice is yours. The main criteria for choosing a belt: the specifics of the work, first of all, then the functionality and capacity of the tools, and then working with the tool will not bother you.
