When is the professional holiday of public transport workers? Motorist Day: features and traditions of the drivers' holiday When is Driver's Day celebrated?

The road is a kind of symbol of endless movement. Because it is roads that can connect us with our loved ones, show us the world and let us enjoy the feeling of complete freedom. A road is an integral attribute of any state. Most of the world's population drives on the roads of different countries every day, so the idea of creating such a professional holiday as Motorist Day did not arise by chance.

The history of the holiday Motorist Day

Every year the total number of cars, trolleybuses and buses increases at tremendous speed. And all because the car has become an integral part of our lives. Thanks to the car, we have the opportunity to travel, covering long distances and getting to the most hidden corners of our planet. But if you look into the very depths of the history of the emergence of road transport and Motorist Day, you can find out that over the course of many years the car gradually integrated into human life:

  • In 1885, the first test of a homemade car took place;
  • The first automobile competitions took place in 1894;
  • And already in 1903, the first automobile company, known throughout the world and now Ford Motor, was founded.

At present, no one can even begin to calculate the scale of the automotive industry in terms of the number of products produced, even with a small degree of certainty. Although, according to some researchers, every inhabitant of the planet has, on average, one car in his lifetime.

The creation of such a holiday as Motorist Day is a kind of expression of popular respect and recognition. Why is that? Because the driver is often responsible for the lives of a large number of people, and not just for the delivery of various goods.

The history of the emergence of Motorist Day goes back to the distant October 1, 1980. When the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted a decree called “On Holidays and Memorable Dates,” according to which Soviet Motorist Day was celebrated on the last Sunday in October. In Ukraine, they decided to make this holiday common for both drivers and road workers. And in 1993, Leonid Kravchuk signed a decree establishing such a holiday as Motorist and Road Worker Day.

Traditions of Motorist Day

Thanks to the rapid development of the automotive industry, the demand for automotive-related professions is significantly increasing. Driver is one of the most common and widespread professions. Accordingly, this holiday cannot be called an unpopular holiday.

And yet, Motorist and Road Worker Day is a holiday that is dedicated not only to motorists and drivers, it is also a holiday of all workers and employees who dedicated their lives to the road and motor transport.

If we talk about the celebration traditions that this day has for the road workers of Ukraine. First of all, it is worth saying that it is most actively celebrated by various organizations, clubs and movements of car enthusiasts, as well as various organizations whose professional activities are at least somehow related to the car. As part of Motorist Day, concerts are organized, bonuses and incentives are given out, etc. And, of course, what driver on Motorist Day would not deny himself the pleasure of drinking a glass to the health of his work colleagues.

The wheel is one of the main inventions of man in the entire history of his existence. Over time, the rhythm of human life has noticeably accelerated, and now it is impossible to imagine city streets without the vehicles that we use every day in our lives - buses, trams, cars. The number of passenger cars is increasing especially noticeably, with more and more every year. Passenger transport has become very mobile; now it can be used to cover enormous distances, and you can get to almost any place that is not accessible by public transport. Because of this, there is an increase in the number of professions related to road transport. The most common of these professions is driver. It is not surprising that many countries have introduced a holiday dedicated to these professions into their calendar. After all, employees of the automotive sector are the basis of its work.

When is Motorist Day in 2017 in Russia?

  • Motorist Day in 2017 will be celebrated on October 29.

On January 15, 1976, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued Decree No. 2847-IX, according to which Road Transport Workers Day was introduced into the calendar. Later it was confirmed by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 1, 1980 No. 3018-X “On holidays and memorable days.” The day of celebration was designated the last Sunday of October.

Since 1991, the Russian Federation has become an independent state, but the tradition of celebrating Road Transport Workers Day has remained. Only the name has changed, now it is Motorist Day. In addition to Russia, the holiday of all car lovers is now celebrated in countries such as Belarus and Ukraine.

Many people mistakenly consider Motorist Day to be a holiday only for professional drivers. It is also a holiday for managers of transport enterprises, workers involved in transport repairs, engineers, and all workers in this field. The modern life of the city and its inhabitants would be impossible without people of these professions, people who are dedicated to their work.

Cars have become firmly entrenched in world history, starting with the testing of the first home-made car in 1885. In 1894, car competitions were held for the first time in the world, and already in 1903, the world-famous Ford Motors company was founded. These are not all the events in the history of the development of motor transport.

Congratulations on Motorist Day

We sincerely congratulate professional and amateur motorists on their professional holiday. We wish you clear weather, good roads and green light. Happy holiday!

When officially congratulated on this holiday, it is fully called the Day of Motor Transport and Road Workers. Which sometimes causes confusion, because there is also a separate Road Workers Day, celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of October. But these are different dates, which should be remembered when preparing to celebrate Motorist Day.

The services of motorists to society are extremely great. Their work is not easy and often dangerous. However, it is thanks to their activities that factories operate, stores are full of goods, and we can freely move where we want. Therefore, Motorist Day, given the number of people celebrating it, can safely be called a national holiday.

Story

Motorist Day acquired its official status in the Soviet Union after the corresponding decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces was issued. This memorable event took place in 1980. The last Sunday of October became the professional holiday of workers of many Soviet automobile enterprises. The date quickly became popular with everyone involved in the automotive industry, and there were more than 10 million such people in the Soviet Union.

In 1996, the status of this holiday was also officially confirmed by a decree of the President of Russia. Gradually, it began to be celebrated not only by employees of motor transport enterprises, but also by many private car owners. But today half of Russian families have their own cars. It is easy to understand that tens of millions of people celebrate this date.

Traditions

It is interesting that Motorist Day is celebrated today not only in the Russian Federation, but in almost all former republics of the USSR. It is celebrated both at enterprises and in the family circle. Automotive companies host a variety of events - from traditional meetings with congratulations, presentation of valuable gifts and prizes to themed concerts, corporate feasts, car exhibitions and even races in which employees of organizations take part.

Well, car enthusiasts are happy to be congratulated on this day by their family and friends. Of course, the colleagues of the “birthday boys” do not stand aside either. Domestic media often remind us of the holiday. Often films and programs on relevant topics are shown on TV.

Motorist Day 2018 is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of October. The official name of the professional holiday is “Day of the Automobile and Urban Passenger Transport Worker.” On what date will industry representatives be honored this year? The holiday falls on October 28th. The date was set by decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 26, 2012.

How did the holiday appear?

It was first established by decree of the PVS of the USSR dated January 15, 1976, and it was then called “Day of Road Transport Workers.” After 20 years, it began to be celebrated as “Day of Motor Transport and Road Workers.” Then, in 2000, road workers got their own holiday, and since 2012, all urban passenger transport workers have been added to motorists.

The holiday is celebrated:

  • drivers;
  • engineering and technical workers;
  • workers of motor transport enterprises;
  • employees of educational institutions.

Transport in Russia

The country uses all modern modes of transport. Motor transport accounts for 8.6% of total freight turnover, 56% of cargo transportation volume and 44% of commercial transportation. The share of bus transportation in passenger traffic is 61%, and in the overall structure of passenger turnover, motor transport accounts for 28%.

Urban public transport is the main element of the transport system. It includes: tram, light rail, bus, trolleybus, taxi, metro, monorails, providing about 80% of the population's trips.

Holiday Events

As a rule, on the eve of Motorist Day, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation holds a meeting of the Organizing Committee, where regulations and festive events are discussed.

The ceremonial part of the holiday includes:

  • congratulations and awards to industry representatives;
  • honoring industry veterans;
  • awarding prizes to participants in professional skills competitions;
  • big holiday concert.

Thanks to motorists, plants and factories are operating, shopping centers are replenished with goods, people move freely within and between cities. Therefore, Motorist Day can safely be called a national day.

Automobile transport

This is the youngest type of transport, because the first cars appeared only at the end of the 19th century. Nowadays, road transport successfully competes with rail and water transport, transporting almost all types of cargo. Motor transport is universal, reliable and convenient. Its main advantage is door-to-door transportation. Road transport is the first competitor to railway transport. It is effective for transporting goods over short and long distances. Public transport uses trolleybuses and buses. Luxury buses have become indispensable in the tourism industry.

However, not everything is so rosy. Cars and buses need good roads and transport interchanges. Construction of new routes and reconstruction of old ones is a long and costly process. In the meantime, vehicles are forced to sit in traffic jams for half a day, causing environmental damage.

Personal or public

Public transport began to develop from the beginning of the 20th century. But already from the middle of the century, personal cars began to compete with it. In some European countries, in the wake of automobile mania, the tram was completely eliminated. It is clear that a personal car means speed, convenience, and the ability to travel “door to door.” But it should be borne in mind that cities literally suffer from overcrowded streets, and the lack of parking spaces irritates not only the motorists themselves, but also pedestrians who are forced to maneuver between cars parked at random and partially blocking the sidewalks. Paid entry into the central part of the city and improving the quality of public transport should help solve the problem.

Motorist's Day, also known as Driver's Day, or simply known as Driver's Day. The holiday for professional drivers has long become common to all motorists in the country. Although, of course, the professional driving fraternity celebrates it especially. Let us remind you on what date Motorist's Day, or Driver's Day, is celebrated in 2019, the history of the holiday, how and when this holiday coincided with Road Worker's Day.

What date is Driver's Day in 2019

The holiday of motor transport workers - Motorist Day - is celebrated in 2019 27th October.

This is one of those professional holidays in our country that have a fairly long history. This holiday appeared 43 years ago - in 1976. And in 1980, when a large-scale reform of Soviet holidays took place and even the establishment of many new holidays, this holiday confirmed its place in the calendar - it is invariably dated to the last Sunday of October.

This day off became the legal date for Driver's Day, as it was popularly called. Since then, this date has never changed, despite the fact that the legislative acts themselves that regulate this holiday have been rewritten more than once. We are currently celebrating Driver's Day according to the decree of 2012.

For a short time, from 1996 to 2000, this holiday was called the Day of Road Transport and Road Workers.

So this holiday at the end of October briefly united those who design, build and repair roads with those who use these roads as part of their profession - professional drivers. However, it was very quickly singled out as a separate holiday, and it was moved to an earlier date - it dates back to the third Sunday of the same month, October. Thus, there can be anywhere from one week to two weeks between these two holidays, depending on what the October calendar grid looks like in a given year.

Motorist Day is mainly a holiday for professional drivers: from taxi drivers to truck drivers, from personal drivers of company directors to those who drive huge mining dump trucks.

For all of them, driving is a profession, and many representatives of this profession are subject to completely different requirements than ordinary car enthusiasts. Often, a professional driver is required to periodically undergo retraining, which allows him to always be aware of all changes in traffic rules and other laws that relate to road traffic, drivers are reminded of the intricacies of safe driving, etc.

Of course, ordinary car enthusiasts can also consider this holiday theirs, since both professionals and amateurs use the same roads and are guided by the same traffic rules. And, in the end, mutual understanding and mutual assistance are what the relationship between road users should be based on.

Motorist Day is a truly national holiday. It became this way, among other things, thanks to the rampant motorization of the last two decades. And yet, we especially congratulate the professionals for whom the workplace is the driver’s seat, and the objects of labor are the steering wheel, pedals and levers of the car.
