How to make a gift for grandfather - a card-shirt

Shirt postcards are very popular on the Internet! Well, really, they are super cool and very cute! 😉 But it always seemed to me that making such a card with a child would be difficult! But it turned out that no: Andrew, with great enthusiasm, painted the pasta himself and glued all the paper onto the frame, and I measured and cut out the blanks!

I suggest you also try to make a postcard like this in the form of a panel (so that you can hang the story on the wall and admire it)! 😉

We will need:

• Photo frame (A5 format)
• Colored double-sided paper 1 sheet
• Thick white paper 1 sheet (for example, watercolor, sketching or sketchbook)
• Pasta - bows 4 pcs.
• Gouache (white, red, blue, light blue)
• Brushes (thin, thick)
• Clear glossy decoupage polish (or regular clear nail polish)
• PVA glue or glue gun
• A piece of craft paper (you can take it from a package or paper bag).

How to make a gift for grandfather:

1. Making “Bows”

Paint the bows with a wide brush to create:

• red
• blue
• white
• blue(mix 2 gouache colors - blue and white)

With a thin brush, after the paint has dried, you can paint dots or stripes.

Important: To prevent the bows from acquiring a spotted color in the spirit of “speckled grey-brown-raspberry”, you need to give the child 1 color of paint and 1 bow! Children love to mix paints, so when I laid out all the gouache in front of Andrew, the bows looked like the works of Andy Warhol. 😉

Varnish

After the paint has dried, you need to cover it with a glossy decoupage varnish or regular nail polish. Of course, you can leave the bows like that, but it looks much better with varnish! 🙂

Option: Gouache and varnish, if desired, can be replaced with acrylic paints.

2. Formalize your congratulations

Congratulations and the birthday date can be typed in some unusual font on the computer in Word and printed on a printer (for example, here, I decided to use the “effect” of a typewriter).

I printed the date in the middle of the sheet, then cut out a long strip and folded 2 edges into a scroll (like quilling).

3. Making a shirt :)!

Important:

• Double-sided colored printer paper is very suitable for making such a shirt; it comes in pastel colors, as in this case (you can find it in office supply stores).
• If you can’t find such paper, then you can use regular white paper, only then you need to choose a colored background for the panel.

To avoid getting confused during the shirt making process, just follow us step by step! 😉

Step 1. From colored paper you need to cut out a rectangle measuring 10 by 9 cm. Fold it in half.

Step #2.

Step back 3.5 cm from the fold and mark with a pencil. You need to retreat 1.5 cm from the edge of the cut out rectangle. The mini-rectangle obtained from connecting the lines needs to be cut out.

Step #3.

To create a “collar” on the shirt, we cut more lines on the sides, 1 cm in size. We unfold and fold our “collar”.

Step 4.

Step 5. Cut out the sleeve along the contour. The paper shirt is ready!

Step 6 Now let’s decorate the panel:

• We take out the glass from the photo frame (we won’t need it), leaving only the back part and the frame.
• Cut out a background (suitable in size) from a white sheet of paper and glue it onto the cardboard base of the frame, put on the top part and secure it! The base is ready!
• Cut a rectangular strip from craft paper and glue it with PVA glue (or a glue gun).
• Glue white, blue and light blue bows onto the strip.
• At the bottom we glue a “scroll” with the date of the holiday.
• Next, use PVA to glue the shirt onto the base.
• Glue a red bow and paint the buttons with paint (felt-tip pen or nail polish).
• Paste congratulations at the top! Ready!
