How to design a money box for a wedding. Do-it-yourself wedding money chest (master class, photo, step by step). Money chest in the shape of a heart

Nowadays, money is one of the most common gifts and, it would seem, there is nothing simpler than. But sometimes you really want to add something unusual to such an ordinary gift. And this is not at all difficult to do; all you need is the desire and the simplest materials. So, we suggest you make a money box with your own hands, following our master class.

Money box scrapbooking – master class

Required tools and materials:

  • 2 types of scrap paper (backgrounds for it can be found on the Internet and printed or bought ready-made);
  • white and colored cardboard;
  • watercolor paper;
  • pencils and watercolors;
  • brush, pencil, stationery knife, metal ruler, scissors;
  • an inscription or picture (you can also print them yourself);
  • glue (preferably “moment-crystal”);
  • double-sided tape (you can limit yourself to glue);
  • decorations (beads, half-beads, buttons, pendants - whatever you see fit);
  • ribbon.

Performance:

  1. First, using a ruler and a stationery knife, you need to cut cardboard and paper. The dimensions of paper and cardboard, as well as the principle of distribution of colored and white cardboard, are shown in detail in the photo.

  2. Next, we take the largest square (18x18 cm) and line it. The next step is to do the creasing (mark the places of the folds) - in addition to a special stick, many objects are suitable for this (a non-writing pen, a plastic card, and even the handle of a simple teaspoon). I used an ice cream stick. The principle of ruling and scoring is shown in the photo.

  3. The next step is to make cuts and trim off the excess.

  4. And finally, we coat the necessary parts with glue and fold our main box.

  5. So, all the most difficult things are left behind, but it’s too early to stop, because only half the way has been completed.

  6. It's time to make the second part of our box, and for this we will line and crease the largest rectangle of cardboard. This must be done as shown in the photo.

  7. This is the kind of box we should get. Now it's time to start decorating.

  8. We glue narrow strips of paper (1x9 cm) onto strips of cardboard (1.5x9.5). The next step is to glue these double borders onto the box (2 each for the inside and outside), and also sew on a bead that will serve as a handle.

  9. Now take 2 11x11 cardboard squares and two 13x13 paper squares.

  10. We coat the cardboard square with glue, glue it to the wrong side of the paper and cut off the corners.

  11. We fold the excess paper and glue it to the cardboard. We do the same with the second pair and get two neat squares.

  12. We glue our dense squares to the outside of the box so that an equal amount of cardboard protrudes along the edges.

  13. It's time to decorate our creation:

  14. We crease a 10x20 cm cardboard rectangle and fold it in half - this will be a card for wishes.

  15. Now you need to glue the ribbon and the top layer of paper - a 9x9 square.

  16. We paint the inscription with a thin layer of watercolor paint, outline it along the edge with a pencil and glue it to a cardboard rectangle 0.5 cm larger than the inscription itself.

  17. Flowers are great for decoration and you don’t have to buy them - you can make them yourself. Let's draw a few large flowers and a few smaller flowers on the wrong side of the watercolor paper, and then cut them out.

  18. We wet our flowers with a damp brush. Immediately after this, add color to taste (saturation depends on your desire), and then we give shape to the petals - twist them around a pencil or (as in my case) the shaft of a brush.
  19. Let's add clarity and volume to our flowers - lightly outline the petals and draw veins, and then glue them in pairs and stick a rhinestone or half-bead in the middle.

  20. And here’s the finale: we attach all the decorative elements to the postcard, and glue the postcard itself to the box.

Our box may well become a package not only for money, but also for other small gifts, and later it will not get lost, becoming a place to store useful and pleasant little things.

Young people are most often given money at a wedding - this is a tradition that has been around for many, many years. The newly-made family will decide for itself what it needs first and foremost and will buy it with the donated funds. Banknotes received as a gift must be folded in one place so that nothing gets lost or wrinkled. Simply placing them on a tray is dangerous, as they can be stolen; putting them in a young man’s jacket pocket is inconvenient, so they were invented for this purpose. special wedding chests for gifts with a cut slit. You can buy such caskets in a store or make your own.

How to choose a chest?

If you don’t have the time or opportunity to make a chest for collecting money at a wedding yourself, then you can purchase a finished product at a wedding accessories store.

Choosing a casket pay attention to these criteria:

  1. Drawer size. Its parameters should be such that several dozen envelopes and greeting cards of European standard can fit into the chest one at a time without unnecessary difficulties. The optimal size of the box for a ceremony consisting of 80 people is approximately 20 cm by 30 cm, and the height should not be more than 20 centimeters. If you select very large chest, then it will attract the attention of guests and cover the young people in photographs.
  2. Number of chests for dowry. As a rule, only one casket is used, but if you plan to invite more than 150 people to the celebration, then you can prepare two boxes, slightly different in design style.
  3. Product basis. Many people will come to the ceremony and everyone will definitely want to touch the casket. It may even be passed from person to person to deposit money. Therefore, if you choose a flimsy wedding chest for gifts, it may not withstand such torture and will fall apart. A paper product will not work. When choosing a cardboard treasury, pay attention pay attention to her corners and joints: they must be strengthened. Better yet, buy a product whose base is made of plastic.
  4. Safety. This is one of the most important points. The money chest for a wedding must be securely and hermetically closed for the entire period of the event, so that no one except the newlyweds can open it. At the banquet there will be a lot of people and service personnel. And someone will certainly want to covet the goodness of the young couple.
  5. Compatibility with the overall holiday style. The casket should be designed in the same style with all the accessories at the wedding. For example, if the book of wishes is decorated with a bow, then it should also be present on the treasury. But in this case, hearts and roses will not be “at the box office”. And if the whole holiday is held in eco style, the chairs are covered with burlap, linen tablecloths are laid on the tables, and cotton is present on other items, then the chest should also be covered one of these materials.

The price of a chest starts from 270 rubles, so you can choose the product that is optimal in price and quality.

  1. First, you need to cut out the frame of the future casket from cardboard. You need a rectangle whose sides are 33 and 55 centimeters. On one side of the figure we paste wallpaper so that there is an allowance of one and a half centimeters on each edge.
  2. Next, we cut the remaining allowances at equal small intervals to make it easier to glue the side walls of the chest.
  3. Now we make a slot in the middle. It must have sufficient width and length to pass envelopes with money. The most suitable dimensions for it are 2 cm by 10 cm. The hole can be cut using scissors or a stationery knife.
  4. We make the bottom. In our case, the dimensions of the bottom of the chest will be 18 cm by 33 cm. It is also covered with wallpaper and connected to the main blank folded in half. In order to draw the warp of the side, you should attach the semi-finished box to the cardboard side and trace the contours with a pencil.
  5. Now we make another copy, cover one and the other half with wallpaper and glue it to the main part. The frame of the future chest is ready.

The resulting casket needs to be beautifully decorated. Hide connections and joints You can use a finishing openwork border or a satin ribbon, gracefully pasting it over the edges of the accessory. With the right combination, both materials can be used.

The top of the chest can be decorated with satin roses. You can also make them yourself or buy them in a store.

How to make a wedding chest out of a box with your own hands: step-by-step manufacturing instructions

If you have a shoebox, it would make a great chest. To do it you need:

  1. Give the lid a convex shape by making longitudinal grooves on its surface with a stationery knife. They will give the cardboard the opportunity to bend and take the shape of a semicircle.
  2. Using additional cardboard and tape, we secure both ends of the resulting lid to the sides of the box. As a result, the box should resemble a small chest.
  3. After the lid is bent into an arc shape, on the box lateral gaps are formed that need to be closed. To do this, cut out shapes from a piece of thick cardboard that match the size of the gaps. These cardboards are attached to the sides of the casket with transparent tape. An arched structure should form. To fix everything as securely as possible, it is recommended to use not only tape, but also a stapler.
  4. Next we make a cutout for the money. In the center of the concave lid we make a hole, the width of which reaches seven millimeters. The length should be such that the envelope can easily fit into the hole.
  5. Now everything is ready to start lining and decorating the accessory.
  6. First you need to get the dimensions of the wedding money chest. Also measure the lid separately. Now, guided by the obtained parameters, cut separate piece of fabric for the lid and separately for the casket.
  7. First, cover the lid with the material, then the rest of the product, not forgetting to cut the fabric for cards in the right place.
  8. Touch the edges of the fabric at the slit with a lighter to prevent the threads from unraveling.
  9. And the final stage of work is decorating the treasury for money. Now give full rein to your imagination and talent.
  10. Suitable as decoration shells, small mirrors, sequins, ribbons, ruffles, rhinestones, frills, shiny threads and much more. If you have artificial gemstones, you can use them too.

When decorating a chest, do not overdo it with decorations, combining incongruous items. Make sure that you don’t end up with a tacky accessory that doesn’t fit into the overall style of the event.

When decorating the joints and sides of the chest, give preference to satin ribbons that match the color of the lining material. The accessory cover with decorative elements should not come out too heavy. Otherwise, it will bend inward.

A treasury for money will look advantageous if it is decorated in contrasting tones; for example, the lining made of white material matches perfectly with red ribbons For decoration.

On the sides of the chest you can place photographs of the young spouses. And as decoration, such unusual elements as berries, dried blades of grass, flower leaves and flowers themselves, and small twigs are suitable. Thanks to this, your work will not only be incredibly beautiful, but will also surprise everyone who comes to the celebration.

In this master class I will create and show step by step in the photo how to make a wedding money chest with your own hands from an ordinary glass box, into which guests throw envelopes, postcards and bills at the wedding. It seems that such an accessory is optional, but on such a day everything should be perfect down to the smallest detail.

So, to create and decorate a wedding money chest we will need:

Box;
. whatman;
. PVA glue;
. brush;
. decorative paper;
. organza;
. corrugated paper;
. satin ribbon;
. glue gun;
. regular and masking tape;
. scissors;
. ruler;
. pencil.

First, let's take the internal partitions out of the box. Let's start forming the chest lid.

Next we draw a part of the circle (arc) on the side. On both sides we make indents of about 5 cm and draw a straight line. We do the same on the second side and connect all the lines on the front wall. It is important that all lines are parallel to the base of the box.

Cut out the top part with scissors.

It is necessary to make sure that the lid of the chest can bend freely. Otherwise, it will simply break and become deformed. Therefore, we make big (fold) lines at intervals of about 1.5 cm. It is necessary to push the lines under the ruler with the back of the scissors on the inside of the lid.

We cut the drawn lines on the front and side walls. On the inside of the back wall we draw a big (fold) line.

We fasten the top part to the side walls using regular tape. It holds firmly, but it is better to stick masking tape on top of it, since we will then cover the box with paper, and this is unlikely to be possible with regular tape.

We also cut off the excess cardboard to make even joints. Just don’t throw away the cut strip - it will be useful to us in the future.

We fasten all sides with tape.

Place the lid with the inside facing up and cut a hole in the center for the envelopes. The thickness is 1-1.5 cm, and the length is at your discretion.

It is necessary to cut off a few millimeters of cardboard along the bottom of the lid so that after pasting the chest can be closed.

Now we will cover the entire chest with white Whatman paper. Let's start from the bottom. We cut out a strip with a size equal to two side walls, the front one and allowances of 1 cm on all sides. First, we glue the front wall in the center of the cut paper, and then we glue the sides. You need to smooth the surface and press down briefly so that the paper does not come off.

We cut the paper at an acute angle in the corners and seal all the allowances.

We glue the side walls of the lid. In this case, the allowances on the convex side should be cut to repeat the rounded shape.
Next, cut out a strip of paper equal in size to the bottom, back wall, and top of the lid. Allowances should be left only on two sides: bottom and top. We seal the rest of the box.

On the reverse side, we make a cut in the hole so that we get allowances and glue them inside.

We cover the entire chest with some beautiful decorative paper in the same way as we covered it with whatman paper. Just do not glue it with PVA glue, but just glue the edges with a glue gun.

You can wrap the chest in organza or some similar material for greater effect. We take organza of such a size that it completely envelops the box. We wrap it completely to its full length, placing the chest in the middle of the material. We glue the allowances inside.

We make drapery on the sides and glue it to the inside of the chest using a glue gun.

Take a cut strip from the lid and cover it with decorative paper. Glue to the inside of the front wall. This protrusion will help the lid stay in place.

All that remains is to decorate the chest inside and out. Outside there will be voluminous flowers made from the material we used throughout the entire work. We cut strips of different lengths and widths.

Fold the strip in half.

We bend the corner at the very beginning.

We begin to twist the ribbon to the end, holding it with our fingers at the base.

We glue the flowers with hot glue in a chaotic manner.

Let's make ties for the chest by gluing ribbons to the bottom and lid under the flowers.

Decorating the inside. Before gluing the entire surface, you need to secure the cover with tape. We glue one end of it to the lid, and the other to the side.

We cover the entire inside of the chest with corrugated paper.

This is the chest in which the newlyweds will collect their first family budget.

One of the most common gift options for newlyweds is money, with which the young family can buy what they deem necessary. To make the procedure for delivering envelopes simpler and more convenient, it is best to use special chests for this. You can buy this holiday accessory or make it yourself, for which it is important to know its correct dimensions, choose the appropriate material and beautifully complement it with decorations.

Selecting size and shape

The casket in which guests will place monetary gifts during the wedding celebration should look impressive and be as convenient as possible. To ensure that this accessory does not catch the eye of everyone who will be present at the celebration, it is important to choose its size correctly. A chest that is too small will make it difficult to collect envelopes and cards, and a chest that is too large will stand out, which will provoke all sorts of ambiguous conversations. In addition to the usual convenience, the size of this box is important due to the safety of the contents. A container that is too small can easily be stolen while guests and newlyweds are busy.

The optimal size of a chest for money is 20-30 cm with a height of no more than 20 cm. Such standards are designed for a ceremony not exceeding 80 guests. If the wedding is planned to be very large, then you can increase the size of the product or provide several drawers for financial gifts to the newlyweds. The size depends not only on the number of guests, but also on the shape of the chests.

The most common option is a round and square greeting box, purchased or made by hand. Usually, preparing for a holiday takes quite a lot of time, so making such an accessory will not be difficult, especially if you know what exactly needs to be done. If you want something unusual, you can design the product in the shape of a heart or a barrel. If the couple is already expecting their first child, then they can make a stroller-chest, and those who are planning a trip after the ceremony can create a box in the shape of a car or a ship, which will look original and interesting.

Depending on the purpose of fundraising at the wedding, the color of the product may also differ. For future children, the box can be blue or pink, taking into account the gender of the future baby. For travel, the chest can be colorful and bright, like the emotions that a couple should receive on vacation. In case of collecting finances for the family hearth, a pure white color is usually provided, symbolizing purity and harmony, which is so necessary and important in family life.

In order for the holiday accessory to be original and match the decor of the entire hall where the celebration is taking place, it is important to choose the right decorations for it and place them beautifully.

Required tools and materials

To make a money chest for a wedding with your own hands, any available materials can be used. The main rule in this case will be the reliability of the future product, so that it can easily withstand the load that it must ultimately cope with. To create a box of any shape and size you will need materials and tools, without which you will not be able to create anything. It is important to have with you:

  • cardboard, its thickness must be at least 2 mm to create a durable structure;
  • glue, preferably PVA, but there may be other options, the main thing is that it is of good quality;
  • stationery knife and scissors;
  • tape of different thicknesses;
  • paper of different colors and textures;
  • decorative elements such as ribbons, beads, flowers.

Not only specially purchased cardboard can be suitable for making a chest; it can be made from a simple shoe box, the main thing is to design it correctly.

Additional tools that will allow you to create a unique product may be needed:

  • figured hole punch;
  • scissors with different shaped attachments;
  • colored tape;
  • glue gun;
  • needle and thread of different colors;
  • ruler.

If we talk about materials that are suitable for use as chest finishing, these could be:

  • fabrics – velvet, satin, silk and more;
  • paper – plain, corrugated, thick, embossed;
  • openwork fabrics, which are more suitable for decorating the finished product;
  • ribbons of different thicknesses, textures and colors;
  • decorative elements - beads, shells, rhinestones, beads, sparkles and any elements that give a festive look to the product.

If you wish, you can build a chest from materials that are denser than cardboard; it can be plastic or even wood, when working with which you need to correctly select the accompanying equipment and decor. To decorate such chests, you cannot do without masking tape, which allows you to divide the product into parts, paint it and give it the desired appearance. When creating this product, it is worth thinking about what design it will have, how it will open and how to lock it.

It is important to take care not only of beauty and convenience, but also of safety by making a small lock that only the newlyweds can open, which will protect the donated money from those who are planning something bad.

How to make it yourself?

To make a chest for money for a wedding, you need to know the general principles of this work, as well as the nuances that you will have to face in the creative process. The manufacturing scheme is quite simple, but for those who are creating such a product for the first time, it will be very useful. To make a chest, you can use a simple shoe box. During the preparation process, the front part is made slightly lower than the back part in order to imitate the appearance of the real product and replicate its closing system. When planning to create a wedding box for collecting cash gifts, it is worth choosing the right initial container so that it has the required dimensions, not too large, but not small, otherwise using the product will be problematic.

In addition to the base for the chest, it is worth taking care of the lid, which should be a decoration of the product, for which the best choice would be a figured design. As soon as the product is prepared, it needs to be decorated with fabric or paper, and then begin the decorating process. The wedding chest does not play a huge role at the holiday, but the newlyweds, as well as the guests who came to please the couple with their small gift, will be pleased to use a specially made container for this, which will complement the overall design of the room.

To make the chest truly beautiful and functional, consider a master class on how to make it. After this, you can get to work, because, understanding what and how to do, following all the instructions step by step, there is a much greater chance of getting what you want. A family casket for envelopes with money and postcards may have different dimensions, shape, colors and decor, but the basics of creation will be approximately the same. So, to make this accessory for a wedding, you need to follow a number of steps.

  • Preparing cardboard. A template of the required size is drawn on it, from which the base of the chest will be created. When everything is drawn, you need to carefully cut out the parts, leaving room for allowances, thanks to which you can glue the structure together. Allowances and other folds must be carefully folded back, making them completely even. The last step will be gluing the seam allowances into a single composition using glue or tape. It is important to do this in the inside of the box so that the appearance of the product is not damaged.
  • To strengthen the entire structure and make the chest more reliable, you need to cut out a cardboard strip, thanks to which the internal corners are additionally glued together. This allows you not only to secure the allowances, but also to hide them.

  • The next step will be to work on the lid, which usually has a three-dimensional shape on the chest. In order to bend thick cardboard beautifully and, most importantly, evenly, giving it a semicircular shape, you need to make several longitudinal strips on the inside of the product. It is worth remembering that excessive force when pressing will cause a hole to appear in the product, and everything will need to start again. As soon as you manage to achieve the desired shape, you need to secure the volumetric part with the base, which will allow you to get the desired chest. It is better to choose the internal part as a place for fastening; this will avoid visible joints and gluing points, which will make the appearance more attractive.
  • Once the base of the chest is ready, it’s time to move on to a very important step - cutting holes for envelopes and postcards. It is very important to correctly measure the length and width of the window into which guests will lower what they have prepared for the newlyweds. It is most convenient to make this hole using a stationery knife, which easily and quickly cuts through the cardboard without deforming it, as scissors can do.

  • The next step is to decorate the box using paper or fabric. For this procedure, it is necessary to measure the lower part separately and outline it, as well as the top. The first step is to decorate the lid, and then the rest of the chest. On the roof, special attention should be paid to the hole, which should be cut as carefully as possible, and the edges should be treated with a lit candle. This stage requires maximum accuracy and attention, because the appearance of the finished product depends on it.
  • When the chest is completely decorated with paper or fabric, the final stage begins, which involves decorating the product with all sorts of decorative elements designed to improve the appearance and bring it in line with the style of the event.

There may be several options for making a chest; the choice of a specific one will depend on the time available for its manufacture and the desire to experiment and create. The more options for inspiration and beautiful examples, the better your own chest will turn out.

Decorating a chest for a wedding is one of the most important stages, since the perception of the product and its aesthetics depend on it. Incorrectly selected decorative decorations or their incorrect location will have the opposite effect from the desired one, and instead of a stylish and interesting accessory, the celebration will have an absurd attribute that will surprise everyone present. In order for everything to work out the way it should be, it is important to follow certain rules.

  • To decorate the joints and corners of the chest, it is better to use satin ribbons that are glued on top of the product. It is important that they have the same color as the material of the box itself.
  • You can decorate the casket with decorations purchased in advance from sewing stores or wedding salons.
  • When decorating the lid of the chest, it is important not to overdo it. Otherwise, the weight of the decor will be too great, and the upper part will begin to fall inward, which will spoil the entire impression of the chest.

  • When planning the choice of decorative elements, you should adhere to the principle of combining contrasting colors, light colors on the product and bright accents in the decoration; this option will achieve the best effect.
  • To make the sides of the chest look original, you can place a photo of a young couple or a photo collage of them on them.
  • The main elements used to decorate a wedding chest are ribbons, beads and rhinestones, which go well with a sprig of rowan, dried spikelets, original leaves and berries.

When you are going to go to a wedding and congratulate the newlyweds on this special day, as a rule, you start preparing in advance. It is necessary to study the tastes and preferences of young people, to understand what needs to be given to them so that it will be useful in their family life. If the newlyweds are very close to you, then you can find out in advance or ask directly what they want. Well, if you are going to a wedding of distant relatives, then, of course, you need to rely solely on yourself. Basically, a cash gift is a win-win option. This, at first glance, is quite simple, but on the other hand, it is necessary. It is up to the young people themselves to determine what is acceptable for them to acquire first and that the most important thing is what is necessary for their young family life. But for a cash gift you need an envelope with congratulations, here you already need to search and select it. And it will be very unforgettable to make a congratulatory wedding box with your own hands, into which you can invest even a little money and in which congratulations for the newlyweds will be ready.

We will make such a box in scrapbooking, we will need the following for it:
-Two sheets of watercolor paper, one A3 and one A4;
-Several sheets of scrap paper in delicate colors;
-Wedding pictures, 8 pieces in total;
-Cutting: large pink heart and smaller white pearl heart, large white butterfly, openwork white ribbon;
From wedding decor: green and beige petals, white, pink and light green flowers, pearl hollow hearts, heart-shaped half beads and round pearl half beads, metal hearts, epoxy sticker with a floral pattern, white lace, heart-shaped pearl buckle, ribbon white satin with hearts and coral organza ribbon, blue paper rose;
- Stamping “On the Wedding Day”;
-Set of wedding stamps and black ink;
-Two hole punches;
-Tools: scissors, PVA glue, ruler, eraser, pencil, double-sided tape, lighter, glue gun.

On a piece of paper we draw a diagram of the box and lid.

From sheet A3 we cut out the main part of the box, and from sheet A4 its lid.

We cut out both parts and now draw bend lines, as in the photo. Let's prepare the decoration of the box.

We cut out 9.5 * 9.5 cm squares from scrap paper for the external design of the box - 4 squares, and for the internal 5 squares. For the lid, cut out 4 strips of 1.5*10 cm and a square of 10*10 cm. We glue the pictures with tape onto scrap paper and sew them on with a machine.

Glue the white heart onto the pink one, sew it on, then glue the swans and sew it on as well.

We place stamps on the blanks, and use hole punches to make openwork edges and stripes.

We glue the prepared scrap paper blanks both inside and outside the box itself. Now, using a sewing machine, we sew each square of the box from the inside.
